What a world we live in.

Trying to get my priorities set straight.

In the UK the police have shot a suspected bomber. In Alberta, Ralph Klien has made a proposal to set up a two tiered medical system, the NHL players have ratified their new contract, someone will get Sidney Crosby in the draft lottery and Neal has been let go from RockStar:INXS.

But do I really care .. Nope... I'm gone fishing for two weeks.

Slings, Arrows and the Crump manifesto

I was going to post today about RockStar:INXS ... but someone decided to leave a comment last night, which I'm really grateful for, its nice to know people are reading what I have to say.

Answer to your Q. Yes you are - you do what all conservatives do-sit on a couch and watch reality tv. Wonder where the wifey goes? I know

5:06 PM

But if you don't have enough guts to leave a responding email, please don't make snide comments. The last one hurts the least because I trust and love my wife more than you will ever know because I know I have a good marriage. Something you may never experience because your not honest.

As to me being conservative, I'm am and I am not .. I like to think of myself as being open minded, or better yet a realist, on some issues I'm left, on some issues I on the right, and on others I'm in the middle... maybe because of age .. maybe because I'm a 42 year old loser ...

Crap when I was a teenager I went from being a card caring member of the Conservative Party of Canada (because I/my parents hated Trudeau) to being a card caring member of the Communist Party of Canada..to believing I was an anarchist .. now I don't belong to a party I vote for what I feel is best. Why? Because every group claimed to have the right ideas... guess what! they are all wrong and the only group that is right is your family. That is the only group that matters. You do what is right for them. You fight and struggle to give them the best life you can. I grew up with nothing, my parents worked to provide for us. I make money and may have aquired some conservative leanings because I want the best for my kids, just like my parents did. I have leftist leanings, I like to think of myself as a enviromentalist, I'm a tree hugger, I don't hunt becuase I see no need to kill a animals (sorry but it is not a sport), I'm married to a vegitarian, I don't own a gun because I feel they are dangerous, I believe that we have screwed up the world and are on the brink of haveing to change or there is no road back and I believe that women have a right to control their bodies (if that means abortion, well so be it). I have a better education than my father, and dammit my kids will have a better education then me because I can and will provide it.

I hope you enjoy my blog, I like to know that someone is reading it. So please make comments, but don't be cowardly by not giving me a way to respond. That's what this whole world/enviroment/community of bloggers is about ... the open and fair exchange of ideas and opinions between people. You don't have to agree with me, I don't have to agree with you but I can learn from you just as you can learn from my ideas ..Thats why I enjoy it.

Small things!

Ok its Friday and I'm supposed to be working .... Yea right ..

Just a couple of things ...

Webgame that Toronto Tory has posted at his site .. Planarity, very addictive and very time consuming.

Wil was voted off of RockStar:INXS, deserved to be he mumbled his way through the songs. At the start of the show J.D. was asked to come down to the stage, (JD off the show WTF) but no he wasn't. The band asked him to do an encore of his cover of California Dreaming.

Last but not the least have a great weekend.

Sad but true, I'm watching RockStar:INXS

It's really sad, I'm watching RockStar:INXS and I have to admit I like it.

Let me first set the scene. Tuesday night is kids class night, we have Drum class and Math lessons. One is at Yonge and Finch and the other is at Yonge and Lawrence, both classes start at 6 p.m. Kids are dropped off at my office at 5pm by brother-in-law (they were at cousins 10th bday party). I then drive 3 kids in sweltering heat (it was 34 Celsius yesterday, felt like 40)the air conditioning in the crown vic nolonger works. We are dying, 3 kids, 1 parent, heat and Toronto rush hour traffic ... Oh joy what fun! To top this off Wife had a hair appointment so she couldn't pick either of them up. I got Oldest to Drum lesson 20 minutes early, so 40 minutes in traffic to get him to his class, 20 minutes to get Middle to her class on time, then had to turn around to pick up Oldest for 6:30 and back to Middles class to pick her up for 7pm, all this time Youngest is strapped in her car seat drinking water like it was going out of style. Finally got them home at 8pm, Wife still not home, I eat dinner, let the kids make sundaes, they leave the kitchen and I get to clean up the mess. They watched TV and I went and did gardening. I came in dripping sweat and youngest demands to go on howitismade.net (one of her favorite TV shows) take her to the site, not sure what she expected, but she was really bored with it. We then put away clothes (first time in two weeks), Wife still not home, but she has phoned, hair stylist wasn't able to start dyeing her hair until 7:50 pm (she sat around a hair dressers for 2hrs before they even started her hair). Resigned to it, I get the kids off to bed. Oldest in his own bed, Middle in mine so she can sleep with her mother(some agreement they had over the weekend, I'm to sleep in Middles bed.. oh joy oh bliss) and Youngest in bed with her Nonna. What does all this have to do with RockStar, nothing, I just had to set the scene of my life.

Turn on the TV and here is this beautiful dreadlocked woman doing a awesome cover of Nirvanas "Heart Shaped Box". I'm hooked, what a performance, Jordis Unga. A few more acts, nothing that I liked, but hey wife did show up. All of a sudden this voice belts out of this blond that makes me want to get out my Billie Holiday or Etta James CD's. She does a great cover of the Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go", Deanna Johnston. Then again a few more blah performances, wife liked Neal Carlson, I think he's just a bad Mick Jagger impersonator. Two more performances left after the last commercial break, Ty Taylor, made me like a tune by Pat Benatar, Incredible, the guy puts on a show. Finally , we got to meet JD Fortune, he took one of my favorite folk rock songs (California Dreaming) and arranged it into a driving hard rock song that I would buy it today, this is the guy I want to win.

When I was young I used to head out to the clubs in Barrie to see bands like Teenage Head, or come down to the CNE with friends for concerts and once I move to TO, bars every evening to watch bands. I've declined to the point where I sit on a couch watching RockStar:INXS. So I'm hooked on reality TV, sad but true.

Rambling post.

This is going to be a rambling post today. All sorts of things have caught my interest today.

Have you ever heard of Nikola Tesla, it seems without him we would never of had the world we do today. I have read about Tesla in scifi books but I have never taken the time to do a google search on the man. One of the really good finds was this PBS Doc.

Okay, next subject. Vitiligo, most people don't know what it is. Vitiligo (also called "leukoderma") is a common skin disease in which there is loss of pigment from areas of the skin resulting in irregular white spots or patches. I have it, I am one of the lucky ones since I have very white skin already. I've lost the pigment around my left eye, including the pigment in my eye lashes and eye brow and some spots around the left side of my mouth. It could be worse. I get stared at or get comments like "hey cool" from some kids I coached or being called "two face" by some pretty obnoxious kids. I just met a cousin that I haven't seen in years, he has this on over 80% of his body. So hey I guess I'm pretty lucky.

This is the final comment for today. Really good article in the Globe and Mail on the Devils Lake issue. For once it gave both sides of the issue, in my opinion North Dakota is still wrong to be going ahead with this and Bush is just playing regional politics as opposed to international politics. What is Canada/Manitoba or hell even their own neighbor Wisconsin going to do? This one state is dictating international issues, my understanding of US politics was that this is a Federal issue not a state issue, but I guess when you want a Republican senator to be elected your allowed to play games. All of this got me thinking about water levels in the Georgian Bay being down so low. Do you want to hear pure parinoia .. people really believe that the US Army Corp of Engineers is draining Lake Michigan into the Mississipi River, so that water levels will be high for barge traffic. Or could it be true?

Fishing with Youngest

Fishing with Youngest

As you can see I am kind of lost as to what to write about. I'm going through my photos at flickr (playing around when I should be working) and I realized why I want this image to represent myself to the world. Wife took this photo of Youngest and myself sitting on the dock fishing. Thats all, it was the perfect moment. She wanted me beside her while she fished. She wanted ME.

Lost

Well its one of those days that I can't figure out what I want to write about.

I was going to write about how great our weekend was and how beautiful the christening was and how proud I am to be my new nieces godfather.

But.

I'm pissed off about how many creeps/things/monsters are making the news lately with their attacks on children. This not where this post is going to go now, because I just don't want to look deeper into their world, I want them dead. I never believed in the death penalty when I was young, but for these types of creatures I do.

So what else do I write about, NASA blowing up a comet, Live 8 and the G8 Summit, African dictators and government corruption. Or how about kids in Uganda have to walk 12k just so they can get a safe nights sleep. Or maybe the latest environmental catastrophe, war or famine. The worlds problems are to damn big for me write about, I'll leave that to the crusaders, I may not lead but I will be right behind you to give support.

So what does that leave me to write about. My life in a nut shell, Oldest has finally started drum lessons, Middle is lying on the coach watching tv all day and Youngest is desperate for attention, since the two oldest have ignored her all day. Welcome to summer holidays.
